If you’ve just invested in a new boiler, you want to get the best from it for years to come. If you’ve got a boiler from us, then the warranty will give you peace of mind for at least 10 years, but there are a few things you can do to help prolong the life of your boiler and maximise its performance.

1. Get a Smart Thermostat Fitted

Smart Thermostats help you control your heating by learning your lifestyle patterns and heating your house to the right temperature at the right time.  You can also control your Smart Therostat remotely via an app, giving you even more control over your heating.

There is a wide range of Smart Thermostats available, from the Hive to the Nest, and many more. You can view details and videos on the Smart Stats we offer here.  Depending on which one you choose, you can access a variety of different functions, from weather forecast integration to knowing your location.

Because your Smart Thermostat only heats your house when needed you can save money on your bills by using less energy and, obviously, by using your boiler only when needed, you’ll lessen the amount of time it’s operating and therefore prolong its life.

2. Fit Thermostatic Radiator Valves

Thermostatic radiator valves allow you to individually control the temperature of every radiator in your home, meaning that you don’t use waste energy in parts of your house that aren’t in use or that you don’t want to be as warm as other parts of the house.

Thermostatic radiator valves can be adjusted using a series of 5 settings ranging in temperature from around 10 degrees to 25 degrees, as well as being able to turn them off completely, while still ensuring enough heat is getting through to stop the pipes from freezing.

3. Ensure You Have Your Boiler Serviced Every Year

Your annual boiler service will make sure your boiler is running efficiently as well as safely. Simply cleaning out parts of the boiler during a service can ensure that it runs at maximum efficiency. Your annual service can also allow your heating engineer to identify issues before they become a problem, thereby reducing the risk of costly repairs at a later date.  Generally, your boiler manufacturer will require that the boiler be serviced annually in order to maintain the warranty.
